Meet Dr Marco:
Dr. Marco Thiruselvam was born in Malaysia in 1959. Early in his life, he saw his father working on various rubber estates where Marco gained an interest and understanding of the importance of plants in the modern world and how humans could use them in a sustainable and renewable way. At the age of 18, whilst awaiting his high school results, he found temporary work on a local palm oil estate. Here he oversaw fertilisation of the palm oil trees and quickly realised how toxic these were after burning his own skin whilst using them.
However, he did not go straight into the world of fertilisers and plant care from there. In 1979, at the age of 19, Marco attended the University of Malaya where he graduated 3 years later with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (BME). He found employment with Matsushita Electric, known today as Panasonic. He remained at the company for 20 years.
In 2002 he found himself back in the world of fertilisers, working for a distribution company in Malaysia where he remained for 6 years. He took the decision to further his education and completed a degree in Soil Science in 2006 from the University of Putra Malaysia. In 2008 Marco went on to set up his own fertiliser production and distribution company.
Having rediscovered what he describes as his calling in life, he became very passionate about furthering his knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly plant care, a topic he was always interested in as a young man. He continued to advance his knowledge as a mature student and in 2009 gained a Master’s degree in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from the University of Putra. Four years later he was rewarded with the title of Doctor, obtaining his Ph.D. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore, India in 2013.
After much hard work, extensive research, and development Dr. Marco achieved his goal of developing his own organic fertiliser formulas that would be non-toxic and eco-friendly. He did this using natural plants, minerals, and organic-based ingredients that do not harm the environment with near-zero run-offs to underwater tables, rivers, and coastlines. The result is a formula that achieves more efficient plant growth whilst also rejuvenating the soil that has been damaged by the prolonged use of toxic chemical fertilisers over many years.
Dr. Marco has also realised the world’s desperate need for a fully organic pesticide and fungicide that will be safe and non-toxic to humans, animals, and the environment. This includes bees as they are vital to our existence, pollinating a third of all the food we consume.
